Softball Game Preview: Butler Golden Tornado vs. Canon-McMillan Big Macs

Butler is 0-5 against Canon-McMillan since April of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Golden Tornado will host the Big Macs at 4:00 p.m. Butler has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Butler is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Mt. Lebanon.

Lily Vicari was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Catalfano, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Canon-McMillan fell victim to Hempfield Area and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 10-0. The Big Macs haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Butler's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Canon-McMillan, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
