Soccer Game Preview: Airport vs. Monroe

The Airport Jets will square off against the Monroe Trojans on Saturday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Airport is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Milan on Wednesday. The Jets and the Big Reds finished up their match with a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Monroe's offense. They came up short against Saline on Thursday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Saline are ranked fourth).

Airport's draw gives them a new season record of 14-4-1. As for Monroe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8-1 record this season.

Airport couldn't quite get it done against Monroe when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Jets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
