Covington Academy hasn't had much luck against Skipstone Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Covington Academy Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Skipstone Academy Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Covington Academy is headed out to face Skipstone Academy after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Covington Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Trinity Prep on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.
Bryleigh Bragg spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 17 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makenzie Cowan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (four). Another player making a difference was Sydney Ellis, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Covington Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Prep only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, Skipstone Academy hadn't done well against Peachtree Academy recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Skipstone Academy was the clear victors by a 19-7 margin over Peachtree Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Brookelyn Rogers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Rogers was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Skipstone Academy got a massive performance out of Josie Willey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Aubrey Hardin was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one double.
Covington Academy suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Skipstone Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Covington Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
