Apex proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Holly Springs Golden Hawks 3-2. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Golden Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Apex took Holly Springs into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-15, 23-25, 25-27, 18-16.

Despite the defeat, Holly Springs had strong showings from Ashley Diebler, who had 18 assists and 16 digs, and Ella Brueckmann, who had 18 digs and seven assists.

Apex's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Holly Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Apex will head out to face off against Fuquay - Varina at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Holly Springs, they are taking a road trip to square off against Green Hope at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
