Soccer Recap: Jamestown's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Bruton last Wednesday, Jamestown came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Smithfield Packers by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Jamestown of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Their goal came courtesy of James Snead, who's now up to 11 this season.

Jamestown's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2-1. As for Smithfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season.

Jamestown and Smithfield should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Eagles (ranked second) will meet Grafton (ranked 30th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Smithfield will square off against York at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (27 vs. 133).
