League recap: Falcon breaks off league-leading run for Lincoln

Lukas Falcon of Lincoln ran for the longest rushing play in Pioneer Valley this season against Mesa Verde last week. Falcon ran for 99 yards on the play and finished with 171 on the day as his team defeated the Mavericks.

Placer extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Yuba City, 42-33. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Placer's dynamic duo of Peter Denham and Jalen Lewis proved tough for the Honkers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Denham threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns and Lewis had 66 yards receiving. Stone Sander helped Placer's passing attack out by catching one ball for 36 yards.

Austin Dowling made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bear River beat River Valley. The 6-foot-1 senior grabbed two interceptions.

Colfax's Michael Wilson and Kyle Bryant have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wilson has thrown for 1092 yards this season, while Bryant has 17 catches for 390 yards. Lincoln's James Hubbard leads the league in rushing yards with 440.

Center moved up to 330 from 489 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Pioneer Valley. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of a 16-14 win over Rio Linda.
