Baseball Recap: South Dade Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Dade took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sunset, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The South Dade Buccaneers had just enough and edged out the Sunset Knights 6-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Buccaneers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Angel Ayala tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luis Alejandro Mora, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonel Lluveras, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

South Dade pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Sunset, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Looking ahead, South Dade will venture away from home to face off against Mater Academy Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last seven games South Dade has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Sunset, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Western at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Sunset is facing Western at the right time seeing as Western is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
