Chavez had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 10-12 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Verdugo Hills Dons, sneaking past 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in April.
Gabby Duran and Lenina Garcia dominated on the mound. Duran pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits, while Garcia pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Duran has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jordan Billingsley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Ramos, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Verdugo Hills, they will take on Eagle Rock in a tournament on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Dons surely won't give up without a fight.
