Basketball Recap: Innovation Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Northeast Metro RVT

Innovation Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against the Northeast Metro RVT Knights, falling 79-59. The The Red Tailed Hawk were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Innovation Academy still got an impressive performance from Bryce Kankam, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points. Kankam is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jordy Pe?a-Lugo was another key player, putting up seven points.

Leading Northeast Metro RVT to victory were Esien Clarke and Jeanahel Exilus. Clarke went 8 of 17 on his way to 18 points along with seven boards and six assists, while Exilus dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Clarke is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Mouhib, who posted eight points and three blocks.

Innovation Academy is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. As for Northeast Metro RVT, with the win, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-8.

Innovation Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Bernard's Central Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Innovation Academy is facing St. Bernard's Central Catholic at the right time seeing as St. Bernard's Central Catholic is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Northeast Metro RVT, they will square off against Minuteman Regional at 5:30 p.m. on January 14th.
