Baseball Recap: Ridgeview Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Classical Academy, Ridgeview was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Montgomery Aztecs. For the Wolf Pack, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Aztecs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Ridgeview got a great performance from Ben Castro as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off 11 hits. The dominant performance also gave Castro a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Quintero, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Isaiah Marquez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Ridgeview's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Montgomery, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgeview will challenge Mira Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolf Pack are facing the Marauders at the right time seeing as the Marauders are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Montgomery, they will square off against Steele Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
