Preview: Apache Junction Prospectors vs. Baboquivari Warriors
The Apache Junction Prospectors will be home for the holidays to greet the Baboquivari Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Apache Junction is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Apache Junction struggled with threes on Wednesday (Crismon had six more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Apache Junction falling 56-41.
Despite their defeat, Apache Junction saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Biagio Castagnola, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Castagnola pulled down eight or more rebounds. Omar Adam was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Apache Junction were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Baboquivari beat Desert Christian 54-41 on Tuesday.
Apache Junction's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Baboquivari, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-4.
Apache Junction came up short against Baboquivari in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 38-27. Can Apache Junction avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
