Baseball Game Preview: Dilley Wolves vs. Cotulla Cowboys

Dilley is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Cotulla a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Dilley Wolves will look to defend their home field against the Cotulla Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. Dilley has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Dilley and Natalia meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Wolves came up short against the Mustangs, falling 18-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wolves have suffered against the Mustangs since March 31, 2023.

Dilley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jerry Franklin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Cotulla came up short against Crystal City on Friday and fell 6-2.

Eli Renteria was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Dilley's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Cotulla, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16-1.
