Basketball Preview: Norton Bluejays vs. Oakley Plainsmen
Norton has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Oakley Plainsmen at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Norton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Plainville 62-32 on the road. With Norton ahead 42-15 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Norton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hallie Brooks, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Clydesdale, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Oakley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Russell 59-35.
Norton's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Oakley, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8.
Norton strolled past the Plainsmen in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 41-25. Will Norton repeat their success, or do the Plainsmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
