Softball Game Preview: Lumberton Panthers vs. Perry Central Bulldogs

The Lumberton Panthers will face off against the Perry Central Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lumberton hadn't beaten East Marion on the road since March 7, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-4 win.

Meanwhile, Perry Central made easy work of Laurel on Tuesday and carried off a 19-6 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Golden Tornadoes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Macy Sylvester was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Journey Shows was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Sylvester wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Perry Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Perry Central's victory bumped their record up to 7-8-1. As for Lumberton, the win got them back to even at 4-4-1.
