Softball Recap: Gaither Drops Highest Score of Season Against Blake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gaither). They were the clear victor by a 21-2 margin over the Blake Yellow Jackets on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won eight in a row.

Kacey Wilkes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Gaither let Chyann Herring and Carolyn Emanuel run wild. Herring scored five runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Emanuel went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those five runs gave Herring a new career-high. Jada Quintero was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Gaither was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blake only posted a batting average of .235.

Gaither now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Blake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Gaither will square off against Chamberlain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chamberlain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Blake, they will face off against Hillsborough at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
