Basketball Game Preview: Carrollton Warriors vs. Marlington Dukes

The Carrollton Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Marlington Dukes at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Carrollton is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Tri-Valley just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 45-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scotties.

Meanwhile, Marlington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Rootstown, falling 61-38. While losing is never fun, the Dukes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while the Rovers are ranked 49th).

Carrollton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Marlington, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Carrollton strolled past Marlington in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 47-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carrollton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
