Football Recap: Colonial Heights Comes Up Short

Colonial Heights scored first but ultimately less than Prince George in their matchup on Friday. They and the Royals were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 21-20 defeat. If the Colonials were looking for revenge after losing 21-18 to the Royals when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

It was another big night for Lawrence Hewlett Jr., who rushed for 236 yards while picking up 9.8 yards per carry for Prince George. That's the most rushing yards Hewlett Jr. has posted since back in September of 2024.

Colonial Heights' loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Prince George, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colonial Heights will square off against Hopewell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colonials will be up against the Blue Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.4 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Prince George, they will challenge Meadowbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Monarchs' defense has only allowed 8.6 points per game this season, so the Royals' offense will have their work cut out for them.
