League recap: Elyria Catholic climbs in state rankings

West Shore recap October 22, 2013

Elyria Catholic moved up to 176 from 209 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in West Shore. The Panthers were able to move up by defeating Midview 49-46.

Avon extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rocky River, 56-41. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.

The Middies' Cody Callaway and Logan Bolin have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Callaway has thrown for 1,751 yards this season, while Bolin has 40 catches for 740 yards. Matt Lowry from the Pirates leads the league in rushing with 860 yards.

A big matchup in West Shore this week will be when Elyria Catholic takes on North Ridgeville. At the moment, Mike Polevacik's team is in third, while the Rangers are in fourth.

Avon led the league in scoring this week by notching 56 points on Rocky River.
