Basketball Recap: Chambers Cougars vs. Harding University Rams
Chambers won the last time they faced Harding University and things went their way on Friday too. The Chambers Cougars greeted the New Year with with a 93-77 victory over the Harding University Rams. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Rams are ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chambers got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Malik McCotter out in front who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. McCotter is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Markus Kerr, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Despite the defeat, Harding University saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kaharri Coleman dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Coleman is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Decker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Chambers' victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-5.
