The Providence Classical Paladins will head out on the road to square off against the Westminster Catawba Christian Indians at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Providence Classical was able to grind out a solid victory over HOPE Academy, taking the game 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Paladins in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won five in a row.
Providence Classical had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 14-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Westminster Catawba Christian got the win against Concord Academy on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.
Westminster Catawba Christian's got stronger as the match went on, holding Concord Academy to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.
Providence Classical better focus on containing Joanna Boyd and Sadie Prinz as the pair were huge in Westminster Catawba Christian's win. Boyd had 32 assists and 12 digs, while Prinz had 17 kills, seven digs, and three aces. Boyd is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 20 or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophie Sherer, who had 14 digs and five assists.
Westminster Catawba Christian's record is now 7-10. As for Providence Classical, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Providence Classical might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Westminster Catawba Christian when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Paladins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
