Baseball Game Preview: Tohatchi Cougars vs. Wingate Bears

Tohatchi is 8-2 against Wingate since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will host the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Thursday, Tohatchi made easy work of Northwest and carried off a 10-2 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Thomas Bitsie tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wingate). They were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over Navajo Pine on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Wingate's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Tohatchi, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

Tohatchi took their win against Wingate in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
