Baseball Recap: Sparta Comes Up Short

Sparta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Caldwell Chiefs. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chiefs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Sparta's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Caldwell, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparta will welcome Chatham at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Caldwell, they will host Barringer at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.94 runs per game on average), something the Chiefs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
