Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Livingston

Livingston came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Lathrop Spartans 15-3. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.

Mariah Blaine made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Isabella Zazueta was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Elizabeth Avila was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Livingston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Livingston's record is now 16-6. As for Lathrop, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Livingston will square off against Beyer at 4:00 p.m. on the 25th. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lathrop, they will face off against Pacheco at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
