Mellen posted their closest win since April 26, 2025 on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chequamegon Eagles, sneaking past 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Grainte Diggers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Mellen now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Chequamegon, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Mellen didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-1 loss against Phillips on the 19th. As for Chequamegon, they will take on Hurley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
