It was a Battle of the Birds when Westmoreland challenged Merrol Hyde Magnet on Tuesday. The Westmoreland Eagles were the clear victor by a 59-33 margin over the Merrol Hyde Magnet Hawks. That 26 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Merrol Hyde Magnet lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Melania Couret, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Emma Kate O'Neill, who put up nine points.

Westmoreland now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Merrol Hyde Magnet, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-11 record.

Westmoreland will venture away from home to square off against Liberty Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Merrol Hyde Magnet has already played their next contest, a 47-31 win against Red Boiling Springs on the 6th.
