Baseball Game Preview: Loyd Star Hornets vs. Mize Bulldogs

The Loyd Star Hornets will take on the Mize Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Loyd Star has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Loyd Star lost 14-1 to St. Joseph Catholic on Monday. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Loyd Star saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Mize fell victim to Presbyterian Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly four runs.

Loyd Star's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Mize, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-5 record this season.
