Powell County can  bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game  on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Lee County Bobcats as they made off with  a  12-2 win. Considering the Pirates have won three games by more than nine  runs this season, Saturday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Kylie Shick was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out nine batters over  six innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   seven  hits. Shick was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Taylor Slone was  incredible,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She also put up a  double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Emma Rison, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Powell County  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .541. They are 3-1 when  they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The  victory was their first  at home , bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Lee County,  they are  on  a  six-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
 Looking ahead, Powell County will head out on the road to  take on  Model  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least ten  runs  in their last three matchups. Lee County has  already played their next  contest (against Paintsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
