East Lyme skates past Grasso Tech with ease

The East Lyme Vikings had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Grasso Tech 68-32 on the road. Given East Lyme's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Grasso Tech is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Lyme's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Oliver Hibbard, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 19 rebounds. Hibbard set a new season high mark in blocks with three. Another player making a difference was Michael Timpano, who scored 18 points.

Despite the loss, Grasso Tech still got an impressive performance from Charis Johnson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The contest was Johnson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Amais Thompson was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Grasso Tech struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as East Lyme racked up 19 assists.

East Lyme pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for Grasso Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

East Lyme will be playing at home against St. Bernard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Bernard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 351 points over their last five games. As for Grasso Tech, they will head out on the road to face off against Harvard Ellis Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
