Recap: Silver Valley Trojans vs. The Webb Schools Gauls
The Silver Valley Trojans had already won 19 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.5 points), and they went ahead and made it 20 on Monday. They strolled past The Webb Schools with points to spare, taking the game 75-60. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Silver Valley considering their two-point performance the matchup before.
Silver Valley was led to victory by Jasean Phillips and Damien Grundy. Phillips scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Grundy scored 22 points along with three steals. Grundy continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Javion Taylor, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
The Webb Schools lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alec Kaushal, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josef Sharifi, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The Webb Schools struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Silver Valley pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Silver Valley's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-1. As for The Webb Schools, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silver Valley will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Apple Valley Christian at 3:30 p.m. on January 26th. Apple Valley Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1435th, while Silver Valley is ranked 675th). As for The Webb Schools, they will head out on the road to square off against Mesa Grande Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
