Baseball Recap: Mattoon Takes a Loss

Mattoon lost to Monticello back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Greenwave fell just short of the Sages by a score of 6-4. The Greenwave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mattoon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Wetzel, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Mattoon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Monticello, they pushed their record up to 26-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Mattoon will take on Shelbyville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Monticello, they will face off against St. Anthony at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
