Softball Recap: Fairview Gets the Win

Fairview lost to Edgerton back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Apaches came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 6-1.

Edreanne Peck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

On the hitting side, Kayla Mavis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kortney Grinnell, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Mavis wasn't the only one making solid contact: Fairview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for the Apaches: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.4.

The win got Fairview back to even at 5-5. As for Edgerton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coming up, Fairview will welcome Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Apaches are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Edgerton, they will venture away from home to challenge Hilltop at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cadets will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
