Baseball Game Preview: Conestoga Christian Cougars vs. Lancaster County Christian Lions

The Conestoga Christian Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Lancaster County Christian Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Conestoga Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.

Conestoga Christian came out on top against West Shore Christian Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Cougars never let West Shore Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Clark Brubacher made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Conestoga Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Conestoga Christian let Clayton Zimmerman and Patrick Dalton run wild. Zimmerman went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Dalton got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Zimmerman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Watson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Conestoga Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Lancaster County Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of High Point Baptist Academy.

Conestoga Christian's record now sits at 7-4. As for Lancaster County Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Conestoga Christian took their victory against Lancaster County Christian when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
