Basketball Recap: Luella Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Luella extended their home winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Jordan Smith. The Luella Lions put the hurt on the Riverdale Raiders with a sharp 74-51 victory on Saturday thanks in part to Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted three or more blocks the last three times he's played.

Another player making a difference was Canty Seabrooks, who went 5 for 8 en route to 10 points and five assists. Those five assists gave him a new career-high.

Riverdale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nigel Favers, who posted 17 points, and Alpha Soumah, who earned ten points and seven assists. Marlon Martin was another key player, going 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points.

Luella's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Riverdale, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Luella has already played their next match, a 69-46 defeat against Eagle's Landing on the 20th. Riverdale has also already played their next game (against Douglass), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
