Softball Recap: Head-Royce Jayhawks vs. Albany Cougars
After flying high against Lick-Wilmerding on Tuesday, Head-Royce came back down to earth. The Jayhawks fell just short of the Albany Cougars by a score of 11-10 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jayhawks of the 12-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2018.

Juno Yu put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Cam Jonas made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Jayla Davis also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Head-Royce's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Albany, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Coming up, Head-Royce will face off against Oakland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Albany, they will challenge Pinole Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
