Baseball Recap: Bangor Comes Up Short

Bangor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Palmerton Blue Bombers. The Slaters were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Bombers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jacob Labar was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits.

At the plate, Dylan Keith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Balok, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Bangor's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Palmerton, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Bangor didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-6 victory against Notre Dame-Green Pond on the 29th. As for Palmerton, they have also already played their next game, a 6-1 defeat against Southern Lehigh on the 28th.
