Baseball Game Preview: Goshen RedHawks vs. South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies

The Goshen RedHawks will venture away from home to take on the South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Goshen made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fairfield, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The RedHawks fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The RedHawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ryen Diaz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Goshen saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyan Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Bryson Wilson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, South Bend Saint Joseph was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of NorthWood. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Owen Futa led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Downey, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

South Bend Saint Joseph's loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Goshen, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
