Softball Recap: Gresham Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

Gresham hadn't done well against Barlow recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Gophers walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Bruins. This was payback for the Gophers, who suffered a 10-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

La Terra Foster-Frison was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexi Phebus, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Gresham lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.

Gresham has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Barlow, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Gresham is set to take on their familiar foe Clackamas at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Barlow will face off against rival Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
