Basketball Game Preview: Freedom Prep Academy Eagles vs. Escalante Moquis

The Freedom Prep Academy Eagles will challenge the Escalante Moquis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Freedom Prep Academy has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 17.

Freedom Prep Academy is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Utah Military Academy - Hill Field on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Freedom Prep Academy lost 76-53 to Utah Military Academy - Hill Field. The Eagles were down 59-39 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Freedom Prep Academy got top-tier performance from Wyatt Leigh, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. Leigh is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Sosa, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, Escalante took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 65-29 victory over Fredonia. The Moquis have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Escalante's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Freedom Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Freedom Prep Academy was dealt a bruising 67-40 defeat at the hands of Escalante when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Freedom Prep Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
