Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Durango's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Durango won the last time they faced Escondido and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Trailblazers skirted past the Cougars 3-1.

Teagan Payne was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jayden Shuford was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Rocco Germano also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Durango has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Escondido, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.

Durango has already played their next matchup, an 11-3 victory against Mission Vista on the 1st. As for Escondido, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Hemet on the 1st.
