Basketball Game Preview: Suffolk Christian Academy Knights vs. Ahoskie Christian

Suffolk Christian Academy is 0-6 against Ahoskie Christian since November of 2019 but things could change on Monday. After both having extra time off, both will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Suffolk Christian Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Greenbrier Christian Academy two weeks ago. Suffolk Christian Academy fell 40-27 to Greenbrier Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Gators are ranked 113th).

Meanwhile, Ahoskie Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Gramercy Christian two weeks ago and fell 54-51.

Suffolk Christian Academy will need focus on slowing down Mara Dae White, one of several Ahoskie Christian players who made an impact when they last played. She went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 32 points. That was a full 62.7% of Ahoskie Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Jones, who had six points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.

Ahoskie Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Suffolk Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Suffolk Christian Academy took a serious blow against Ahoskie Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 58-17. Thankfully for Suffolk Christian Academy, Morgan Wadsworth (who dropped a double-double on 36 points and ten steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
