Basketball Recap: Tyler Zitar Key Part of a Team Effort in Wolfpack Win

Claremont won the last time they faced Montebello and things went their way on Saturday too. Everything went the Claremont Wolfpack's way against the Montebello Oilers as the Claremont Wolfpack made off with a 68-42 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolfpack.

Claremont's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Zitar, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points along with six steals and five boards. Those six steals gave Zitar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Wang, who went 6 of 15 en route to 19 points.

Claremont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Claremont's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Montebello, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Claremont will be taking part in a tournament against St. Genevieve at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Claremont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Montebello, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mark Keppel at 5:00 p.m. on January 13, 2025.
