Baseball Recap: Wirt County Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Wirt County faced off against Clay County on Wednesday. The Tigers wound up with the same score they had in their last game (6-5), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Jakob Moore was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Moore was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Brody Ewing was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Boice, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Wirt County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Clay County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wirt County will take on Wahama at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clay County, they will square off against Nicholas County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
