Football Game Preview: Crean Lutheran Saints vs. Laguna Hills Hawks + Official Tickets

The Crean Lutheran Saints will head out to square off against the Laguna Hills Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Crean Lutheran has nine straight wins, Laguna Hills has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Crean Lutheran's victory against Huntington Beach wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Saints narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Oilers 31-28. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Saints were the better team in the second half.

Caleb Bey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 203 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 34 receiving yards and one TD. Those 203 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caden Jones, who threw for 207 yards and one touchdown while completing 82.9% of his passes.

Meanwhile, Laguna Hills played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 42-13 loss at the hands of La Habra. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 364th, while the Highlanders are ranked 93rd).

Crean Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Laguna Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Crean Lutheran against Laguna Hills in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 35-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
