Baseball Recap: Lane Tech Wins Going Away Against Amundsen

Lane Tech won the last time they faced Amundsen and things went their way on Friday too. The Champions blew past the Vikings 10-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Champions.

Alex Ziegler looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Teo Greco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Henry Murray, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lane Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Amundsen only posted an OBP of .259.

Lane Tech's record now sits at 13-8. As for Amundsen, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.

Looking ahead, Lane Tech will challenge Maine South at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hawks are coming into the contest with three straight defeats at home, meaning the Champions will have to defend against a team out to give their home crowd a much needed win. Amundsen will be paying especially close attention to Lane Tech's matchup: after Lane Tech faces off against Maine South, they'll take on Amundsen again at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
