Softball Recap: University Gets the Win

While University's win against Weequahic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Phoenix won by a run and slipped past the Indians 21-20. The Phoenix haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

University got a massive performance out of Imani Mainer, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Mamawah Musa, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .488. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

University's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Weequahic, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, University will be playing in front of their home fans against Golda Och Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Weequahic, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Orange at 4:00 p.m. on May 5.
