Softball Recap: Espanola Valley Comes Up Short

Espanola Valley lost against Moriarty two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Sundevils fell 9-5 to the Pintos. The Sundevils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ezrie Villalobos and Gabriella Segura did some serious damage despite the final result: Villalobos went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Segura went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Leah Vigil was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Espanola Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Moriarty, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-6.

Coming up, Espanola Valley will challenge Taos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Sundevils are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Moriarty, they will face off against Pojoaque Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pintos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Elks/Elkettes have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
