Volleyball Recap: Wray Eagles vs. Lone Star Longhorns
Wray had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Lone Star Longhorns by a score of 3-2. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
Wray took Lone Star into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking ten-point loss. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-23, 25-9, 21-25, 15-5.
Mariah DeLand paced Wray's offense, picking up 12 kills. DeLand got some help from Gracee Linman and her 18 assists. DeLand was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.
Wray is taking a road trip to face off against Otis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lone Star, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Caliche at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
