Baseball Recap: Evansville Reitz Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jasper, Evansville Reitz was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Boonville Pioneers. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Rylan Steele was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Bradyn Angel also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Evansville Reitz's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Boonville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Evansville Reitz will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Evansville North at 4:30 p.m. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Boonville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Forest Park at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight.
