The Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains will challenge the Old Fort Stockaders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopewell-Loudon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Hopewell-Loudon's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against New Riegel by a score of 4-0. The victory continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Blue Jackets: they've now won three in a row.
Not much got past Kellen Frankart, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep New Riegel off the board. Frankart has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Colatruglio, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brayden Brickman was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Old Fort didn't have quite enough to beat Mohawk on Thursday and fell 7-6. The Stockaders have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Harry King put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. King was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
King wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew tackett, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
Hopewell-Loudon's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Old Fort, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hopewell-Loudon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Old Fort struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hopewell-Loudon took their win against Old Fort in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Will the Chieftains repeat their success, or do the Stockaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
