Basketball Recap: Ellinwood Piles Up the Points Against Ness City

Ellinwood lost to Ness City back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Ellinwood Eagles blew past the Ness City Eagles, posting a 64-22 victory. Ellinwood has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.

Leading Ellinwood to victory were Julia Schlessiger and Alyvia Batchman. Schlessiger went 9 for 12 en route to 19 points and eight boards, while Batchman went 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points. Schlessiger is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Ayla Ritchie was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six boards and four blocks.

Despite the loss, Ness City still got an impressive performance from Ashlyn Tillitson, who posted 17 points.

Ellinwood's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Ness City, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Ellinwood will venture away from home to square off against Lyons on Friday. As for Ness City, they will square off against Wheatland-Grinnell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wheatland-Grinnell will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Ness City surely won't give up without a fight.
